Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his family and service to the community. His family's first name is Selmon is the eldest of nine kids raised within Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Second football he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for Tampa's Buccaneers. Three times he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's top 10 young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he captained the 1975 team. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
